Protecting local wildlife
We created an artificial sett with six chambers and two camera shoots, removed access to the existing sett with netting and one-way gates (gates created by Milestone Communications, an RSK company) and closed the sett under eco-supervision. The existing sett was near to a drainage pit that was part of the infrastructure of the reservoir, and there was a risk of badger disruption undermining the drainage system.
The badgers were safely translocated, and as a result of the successful project, Severn Trent has instructed further work.
