Background
This project focuses on the maintenance of solar farms across the country. Our primary objectives are to prevent shading and interference and enhance the efficiency of solar panels by mowing the grass and applying herbicides to control weed growth.
Implementation
We use machinery designed specifically to access hard-to-reach areas such as under solar arrays. Our team of skilled operators is trained in the use of this machinery, has all the relevant certificates and adheres to strict safety and environmental protocols while mowing 300 mm under the dripline of the panels. This allows safe access for engineers to work on-site and maintain the solar arrays.
We apply targeted herbicides to control weed growth around the solar panels, preventing potential obstructions and reducing the effort involved in maintenance of the panels.
Results
- Enhanced solar panel efficiency: By regularly mowing the grass around the solar panels, we effectively minimized shading and interference, leading to an increase in overall energy production.
- Effective weed control: The application of herbicides significantly reduced weed growth, preventing potential obstructions and minimizing maintenance efforts.
- Precise mowing: The use of specialist machinery allowed us to maintain a consistent mowing depth of 300mm under the dripline of the panels, ensuring thorough clearance without any damage.
Conclusion
Our vegetation clearing project has made significant progress in preparing the majority of the 27 sites for future development. The project’s adherence to ecological guidelines and respect for nesting bird season demonstrates our commitment to responsible environmental practices.
